Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I've press the Sort button but it doesn't seem to delete any cookies, even though the log
 file says it has?
Go to the options tab and remove the tick for the 'Don't remove any cookies whilst sorting' Checkbox.

Q. Do I need to put the 'index.dat' file into my Keep List?
No. Cookie Collective only sorts and deletes Cookie files. This file only appears in the listing because you've selected to view all files. To view the files that will be sorted just select to view only Cookie files.

Q. Why cant I select the option to backup my cookies?
Didn't think anyone would use this function, which is why it was not not implemented.

Q. Can I restore any cookies that I've dragged into the bin?
No. Files dragged into the bin are not placed into the recycle bin and are therefore permanently deleted.

Q. Cookie Collective still waits for my input even though I'm running it as a Scheduled Task. Why?
You have forced the program to switch into normal user mode because the Command Line switches you passed it were not recognized. Double-click on the scheduled task and insert the correct switches.

Q. I have a few cookies that share the same name. Will I have to move all the cookies with this name into my keep list to prevent Cookie Collective from deleting them?
No. Just move one.

Q. I've been running CC as a task and for some reason it keeps reporting that it has removed no cookies, even when there are cookies that it should have removed.
The 'Don't remove any cookies whilst sorting' Checkbox is probably ticked. Go to the options tab and remove it.

Command-Line parameters

This section lists the command-line switches you can use when you call Cookie Collective.

Syntax:

COLLECTIVE.EXE [/s] [/m]

Switches
  /s:
This instructs Cookie Collective to automatically sort your cookie folder with its current settings, without any input from the user. This has specifically been implemented so that it can be called by windows as a scheduled task (see Setting up a Scheduled Task for more information).

/m:
If Cookie Collective detects that it has been called from the Command-line then it will not display anything on the screen unless this switch has been set. Using this switch this will force Cookie Collective to display a dialog box in the center of the screen with a brief summary after it has completed its task.

Examples

To instruct Cookie Collective to sort without display a dialog on the screen after its completed its sort, use the following syntax:
COLLECTIVE.EXE /s

To make Cookie Collective display a dialog box on the screen after sorting, use the following syntax:
COLLECTIVE.EXE /s m
